24 New Customs Union Technical Regulations to be Developed and Adopted in 2013

The 32nd Meeting of the EuroAsian Economic Commission considered issues regarding technical regulation in the Customs Union. The Commission approved draft Plan for the Development of Customs Union Technical Regulations for 2012-2013.

The Plan includes 29 draft Customs Union Technical Regulations in total. Five of them are to be developed by the end of 2012:

-          Informing the User on the Energy Efficiency of Electrical Energy Consuming Devices

-          Safety of Pressure Equipment

-          Safety of Chemical Products

-          Safety of Alcohol Products and

-          Technical Regulation on Tobacco Products

In 2013 additional 24 Technical Regulations are to be developed. They include:

-          Safety of Synthetic Detergents and Household Chemical Products

-          Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrotechnical and Radio-Electronic Devices

-          Safety of Fish and Fish Products

-          Safety of Food Contact Materials etc.

Customs Union Technical Regulations contain compulsory requirements for products manufactured in the Customs Union territory and/or products released on the Customs Union market. They may also contain compulsory requirements for technical and manufacturing processes.
