On 16 May 2017 the EurAsian Economic Commission Collegiate approved draft Technical Regulation on the Safety of Packaged Drinking Water.
The TR would apply to natural mineral water, including therapeutic mineral water, treated mineral water, drinking water for children and artificially mineralized drinking water.
The TR would impose requirements for the manufacture, storage, transportation, distribution and disposal of packaged drinking water.
Manufacturers and sellers (distributors) of packaged water would have to comply with microbiological and chemical safety requirements.
Mineral water intended for packaging may only come from sources protected from human (anthropogenic) impact and assigned to natural mineral water by the law of the country where the water is sourced.
