Uzbekistan: Adopted Technical Regulation on the Safety of Lifts

As of 7 April 2018, lift owners, manufacturers and operators in Uzbekistan will be required to comply with the adopted set of safety requirements for lifts. The requirements apply to hydraulic and electrical lifts with the loading capacity of 40 kg and more, except the following lifts:

• those with rack-and-pinion or screw lifting mechanism,

Russia: Adopted plan for the fulfillment of obligations under the POPs Convention

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology (MinPrirody) has published the plan of measures aimed at the fulfillment by the Russian Federation of its obligations under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (the POPs Convention).  The POPs Convention aims to eliminate or restrict manufacturer and use of persistent organic pollutants (POPs).

Russia: Amendments to the Fire Safety Regulations

As of 26 September 2017, a number of important amendments to fire safety regulations enter into force in Russia. The amendments to the fire safety requirements have been introduced by Decree No. 947 of 20 September 2016.

Ukraine: Amended fire safety rules

As of 3 October 2017, fire safety rules of Ukraine (the Rules) have been amended. The amendments clarify existing requirements and also impose a number of new fire safety requirements. The Rules apply to all organisations regardless of the type of their activity.

Russia: Extended producer responsibility lies with trademark owners

A letter issued by the Russian environmental protection authority (RosPrirodNadzor) No. AC-10-02-36/13739 dated 28 June 2017, explains that it is the trademark owner who is responsible for compliance with the recycling targets or for paying the environmental charge in relation to products and packaging they have placed on the Russian market.

Russia: Is the employer allowed to impose financial penalties on employees?

The existing labour law clearly defines what kind of penalties employers are allowed to apply to their employees. The employer may only impose financial or disciplinary sanctions in cases set out by the Labour Code of the Russian Federation (Article 137). In such cases it is lawful for an employer to deduct certain amounts from an employee’s salary.
