Uzbekistan: adopted Technical Regulation on Electromagnetic Compatibility of Technical Devices

Uzbekistan has adopted its national EMC Technical Regulation (EMC TR).  The EMC TR is to enter into force on 29 May 2017 and will apply to manufacturers and importers of all devices that are in the scope of the EMC TR of Uzbekistan.

Conformity certificates that have been issued before 29 May 2017, are to remain valid for the following periods:

  • Certificates issued for mass-produced products are to remain valid throughout their normal validity period;
  • Certificates issued for separate batches of products are to remain valid for the period during which the relevant batch of products stays on the market.

The EMC TR applies to products capable of creating electromagnetic disturbances and/or the operation of which depends on external electromagnetic disturbances.  These products include any computing equipment, electrotechnical equipment, automotive products, electrical machinery, radio navigation equipment, etc.

The EMC TR does not apply to:

  • Components used by manufacturers of other technical devices and not intended to be used on their own;
  • Intended for operation only in conditions of isolated EMC environment provided that the technical documentation clearly specifies this type of intended use;
  • Military products; and
  • Electromagnetically passive devices.
  • Electromagnetically passive devices include:
  • Electrical batteries and accumulators;
  • Headphones and speakers without the amplification function;
  • Protective equipment, creating transient electromagnetic interference of short duration (less than 1 second) due to the operation of short-circuit or an abnormal situation in a circuit, and not including an emergency shutdown device with active electronic parts;
  • High-voltage equipment where possible sources of electromagnetic interference may only be caused by localized defects of insulation (e.g, high voltage inductors, high-voltage transformers), provided that such equipment does not contain any active electronic parts;
  • Capacitors, such as those used for power factor correction;
  • Induction motors;
  • Quartz watches (without additional functions, such as radio);
  • Incandescent lamps;
  • Plugs, sockets, fuses, switches and circuit breakers without active electronic circuits.
  • Passive antennae for the reception of radio - and television broadcasts.

The EMC TR contains requirements for electromagnetic compatibility of technical devices as well as for the labelling, packaging and technical documentation.
