On 8 December 2020, the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission made changes to the Unified Sanitary and Epidemiological and Hygienic Requirements for Products Subject to Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision. The document is supplemented with a list of methods that are to be used for evaluating the effectiveness of disinfectants and biocides that are to be placed on the EAEU (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan) market. The testing is to be performed as a part of biocide / disinfectant registration which is mandatory for these types of products in Russia / EAEU.
The purpose of the amendments is to ensure the uniformity of requirements applicable to disinfectants and biocides in Russia / EAEU and the comparability of test results carried out in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
Now it is possible to use any of the methods included in the list in order to confirm the intended purpose of the registered disinfectant and prove its efficiency for use in the declared field of application.
The list of methods includes efficiency evaluation for: hand sanitising, skin disinfection, laundry disinfection and efficiency evaluation for a number of other purposes.
