EAEU is discussing the amendment to the TR on Food Safety (the TR) that have been developed in accordance with the Mandate of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council No. 12 of 17 July 2020.
The Amendments would establish the maximum permissible levels of residues of veterinary medicines (pharmacologically active substances), which can be contained in both unprocessed and processed food products of animal origin.
Draft amendments would add Annex 5 to the TR on Food Safety that would list the maximum permissible level of residues of veterinary medicines in animal-derived products. The limits would be set for 70 active substances, including erythromycin, cefapirin, flavomycin, toltrazuril, spectinomycin, etc.
Draft amendments also contain a list of standards with the testing methods that are to be used in order to ensure that products comply with the set limits for residues of veterinary medicines.
The draft amendments are currently being subjected to a public discussion and the closing date for any comments is set as 6 April 2021.
After the public discussion the draft amendments are to be send for intra-state agreement.
