On 18 July 2023 a draft law that would amend Technical Regulation No. 040/2016 on Fish and Fish Products was published.
The amendments would clarify some provisions of the TR on Fish and Fish Products and introduce definitions to some new terms, such as “surimi mince” into the TR.
The amendments would also provide for a revised edition of Annex 1 to the TR 040/2016 “Microbiological safety norms”.
Annex 3 to the TR 040/2016 would be supplemented by Table 5 which is called "Permissible critical intensity of invasion by non-viable (not hazardous to health) parasites of fish food products intended for consumers" and Table 6 with the calculation "Indicators of critical intensity".
The amendments would introduce an important change to Annex 4 to the TR 040/2016. It has been proposed that tests for the presence of dioxins should only be conducted only if there is a reason to believe that they might be present in the raw materials.
