EAEU has adopted Technical Regulation on Energy Efficiency of Energy-Consuming Devices (TR EAEU 048/2019) – the TR on Ecodesign.
It is intended that the TR on Ecodesign enters into force some time in 2021 but not before 1 September 2021.
The TR requires that equipment must have a device for controlling the power supply mode of at least one of the following types:
a) an automatic control device that, in the shortest possible time, transfers the equipment connected to the network, but not performing the main operating functions and not connected with other equipment, into standby mode or off mode, if this function does not interfere with its intended use;
b) a mechanical control device located on the front panel of the equipment connected to the network and installed in the operating position or in another visually observed and easily accessible place on this equipment, manually switching the equipment into standby or off mode.
The TR also sets out detailed energy efficiency requirements and the requirements for product labelling as well as for the contents of instruction manuals and energy efficiency labels that must accompany energy-related products.
The provisions of the TR on Ecodesign apply to household and office equipment operating at the voltage of up to 250 V. The list of products subject to the adopted TR includes:
