Moldova: Deadline for complying with the EPR requirements is about to expire

Importers of products that are subject to the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in Moldova must ensure that they have registered with the Moldova Registry of Producers.

A reminder was published by the Moldova Customs Service  for economic operators that they have the obligation to comply with the requirements regarding Extended Producer Responsibility (REP), according to the provisions of the Law on Waste. This means that economic operators who import into the customs territory of the Republic of Moldova products subject to the EPR must register in the Register of Producers by November 15, 2024.

The authority reminds that the EPR framework legislation requires that all manufacturers who import and place on the market products such as electrical and electronic equipment, batteries and accumulators, packaging and packaged products, tyres, oils and vehicles ensure their collection and disposal at the end of the product's life cycle.

By mid-October, according to data provided by the Environment Agency, 77 economic operators importing tyres, 3,820 importing packaging, 310 importing batteries and accumulators and 785 importing electrical and electronic equipment were registered in the Register of Producers.
