The working group of the Federal Customs Service (FTS) will create a registry of “bona fide” suppliers of products for children and babies. This announcement was made by the president of the Children Products Industry Association. The Association is to commence work in October 2013 and to unite a number of representatives from sectoral organisations as well as state agencies, such as the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Federal Consumer Protection and Public Welfare Service, etc.
At the moment around 6 thousand supplier companies import products for children to Russia. However, only 10% of them will be registered as “bona fide”.
The aim of creating the registry is to combat illegal and dangerous products supplied on the Russian market.
According to the Association, the share of counterfeit and illegal products for children on the Russian market reaches 30,2%. The share of domestic products does not exceed 20,6% and the share of legal imported products is only 49,2%.
