Adopted Technical Regulation on the Safety of Light Industry

As of 16 November 2016 organisations manufacturing or importing light industry products in Uzbekistan are required to comply with the provisions of the adopted Technical Regulation (TR).

The adopted TR applies to textile products, clothing, silk cotton wool, artificial fur products, carpets, etc.  and does not apply to medical purpose products, souvenirs or products made pursuant to an individual order. The TR imposes requirements pertaining to biological and chemical safety of light industry products as well as to the packaging and labelling of light industry products.

As of 16 November 2016 manufacturers and importers of light industry products are required to perform the assessment of conformity of their products with the requirements of the adopted TR. All hygienic certificates issued for such products before the TR entered into force are to remain in force during their validity period.

Customs Code of Uzbekistan entered into force

The Customs Code of Uzbekistan entered into force on 21 April 2016. The Customs Code regulates customs procedures in Uzbekistan.

Regulation on the certification of management systems in Uzbekistan entered into force

The Regulation was registered on 16 January 2016 under No. 2754 and entered into force on 25 April 2016.

Draft Law on Food Safety is being discussed in Uzbekistan

Draft law on Food Safety would introduce the new term “sanitary and epidemiological conclusion” which is a document confirming compliance of food, materials or equipment in contact with food with the applicable sanitary and health requirements. This document would be introduced instead of the existing hygienic certificate that confirms compliance of food with the requirements of the current Food Safety Law.

Adopted Decree regulating the issue of permits for import and manufacture of substances, cosmetics and other products in Uzbekistan

As of 10 May 2016 organisations importing or manufacturing certain products and substances are required to obtain permits for such import or manufacture in accordance with the adopted Decree.

According to the adopted Decree a permit is required in Uzbekistan for the manufacture or import of: new biological substances, food additives, chemical substances, polymers and plastics, perfumery and cosmetic products.
