As of 26 June 2017, facilities generating or managing wastes are to use the revised version of the Federal Classification Wastes Catalogue (FKKO) in order to determine hazard class of wastes they handle or generate.
The revised version of the FKKO contains over 1000 types of wastes. Each type of waste is assigned a 11-digit code that contains information on the hazard class of a particular type of waste as well as its aggregate state (e.g. liquid).
The adopted Catalogue revokes and replaces the previous version of the FKKO adopted by Order No. 445 of 18 July 2014.
