The experiment on marking milk and dairy started on 15 July 2019 and was supposed to continue until 29 February 2020 but has been extended – first until 31 March 2020 and subsequently - until 31 December 2020.
The experiment applies to certain types of dairy products produced from pasteurized, ultra-pasteurized, sterilized, ultra-high-temperature-processed milk and (or) pasteurized, ultra-pasteurized, sterilized, ultra-high-temperature-processed dairy products manufactured industrially and packaged in consumer containers.
Participants of milk and dairy market (e.g. manufacturers and importers) are able to voluntary participate in the experiment.
The aim is to ensure that certain milk and dairy products are to be compulsory marked with a digital Data Matrix code. This marking code will allow full traceability of milk and dairy products along the supply chain and to the point of sale to the end user.
