Sanitary and hygienic rules and norms adopted during the “Soviet” time will cease to be effective as of 1 January 2017
All sanitary and hygienic rules, norms, regulations, etc. adopted during Soviet time will not apply in Ukraine, starting from 1 January 2017. The Order abolishing such norms and rules does not provide any list of such norms and simply abolishes all sanitary legislation adopted by the authorities of the USSR or Ukrainian SSR. It is expected that new norms replacing the existing ones are to be adopted during 2016.

Draft law aims to set consumer food labelling requirements
Draft law would set out organizational and legal framework for providing consumers with information on food products. The law would impose more extensive and clarified requirements pertaining to the information supplied to food consumers. In particular, it would require that all consumer food products must be accompanied with clear and accessible information that is not capable of misleading. These requirements apply also to the packaging and advertisement of food. The information includes product name, list of ingredients, the name of the economic operator located in Ukraine and responsible for the provision of information on the product, etc.
The law would prohibit to mention any medicinal or therapeutic properties to food, including prevention and treatment of illnesses, except some types of natural mineral water and food specifically used for medical purposes).
