Commodity Nomenclature for Foreign Economic Activities of the Customs Union (TN VED TS) or Foreign Economic Activity Commodity Nomenclature (FEACN CU) is the classification catalogue of products and substances used in the Customs Union countries (Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia). It represents a system of product classification for the purposes of product identification for customs procedures. The system allows to perform customs operations (e.g. charge customs duties, determine the customs value of products, etc.) and to research the quantity and quality of international trade in goods.
All TNVED TS codes belong to 97 groups and 21 Chapters. The exact product code consists of 10 digits. When it is not possible to determine the exact product code, then the closest product group must be chosen.
The main criteria used for the classification of a product are the material the product is made from, the product functions and purposes, the degree of processing (manufacturing).
The main unit used for the measurement of products in TN VED TS is weight in kilograms.
TNVED TS or FEACN CU consists of three parts:
- Nomenclature;
- Annotations to groups and chapters; and
- The main rules of interpretation.
In order to determine the most suitable code for a particular product, all three parts must be used.
