Uzbekistan: Adopted Technical Regulation on Non-Alcoholic Drinks

As of 2 December 2021, manufacturers and importers of non-alcoholic drinks and raw materials used for non-alcoholic drinks are required to comply with the adopted Technical Regulation (TR). 

Until the adopted TR enters into force, all existing standards and regulatory instruments applicable to non-alcoholic drinks are to be applied voluntary and are not binding.

Uzbekistan: Law on infant milk and baby food enters into force

As of 24 April 2020, manufacturers and importers of baby food and infant milk have to comply with the provisions set out by Law on Supporting Breastfeeding and Requirements for Baby and Infant Food. Some provisions of this law also apply to baby and infant food advertisers. 

The document introduces a number of requirements and restrictions applicable to baby food and its producers. 

Uzbekistan joins the ADR

Uzbekistan has joined the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) and the Protocol (Geneva, 28 October 1993).

The agreement aims to improve the safety of international road transport and defines the term “dangerous goods” – items that are not allowed for international road transport without observing certain conditions.

Uzbekistan: Imported flour and salt must be enriched with micronutrients

As of 1 April 2020, importers of flour and salt into Uzbekistan must ensure that all flour and salt are enriched with micronutrients. The amendment imposing this requirement was made to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers dated November 23, 2010 No. 260 (Decree No. 1035 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan dated December 25, 2019). 

As of 1 April 2020, it will only be possible to import grade I wheat flour and table salt enriched with micronutrients into Uzbekistan. 

Uzbekistan: Pilot project for product identification marking

As of 1 December 2019, Uzbekistan has commenced a pilot project on implementing identification marking for alcoholic drinks and cigarettes.  Local manufacturers and importers can voluntary participate in the experiment.

The results of the experiment will be submitted to the Government before 30 June 2020.

Uzbekistan: Adopted Technical Regulation on the Safety of Packaged Drinking Water

Starting from 12 April 2021, manufacturers and importers of packaged (bottled) drinking water in Uzbekistan are required to comply with the provisions of the adopted Technical Regulation on the Safety of Drinking Water in Uzbekistan.

The adopted TR applies to natural mineral water (table, treatment, medical-table, naturally gaseous), processed and natural drinking water as well as water intended for children.
