Uzbekistan: Adopted Technical Regulation on the Safety of Lifts

As of 7 April 2018, lift owners, manufacturers and operators in Uzbekistan will be required to comply with the adopted set of safety requirements for lifts. The requirements apply to hydraulic and electrical lifts with the loading capacity of 40 kg and more, except the following lifts:

• those with rack-and-pinion or screw lifting mechanism,

Uzbekistan: Additional restrictions for the users of subsoil resources

Facilities using subsoil resources are to be required to comply with additional environment protection requirements. The amendments to this effect have been made to the laws “On Nature Protection” and “On Subsoil Resources”.

The amendments clarify that a facility may only use subsoil resources if it complies with all applicable environment protection requirements and observes the rights of all other users of natural resources.

Uzbekistan: Manufacturers will be required to declare product compliance

As of 10 December 2017, product manufacturers (and not suppliers, as is currently the case) are required to declare compliance of their products and it is the manufacturers, rather than suppliers, who will be responsible for compliance of their products with all applicable statutory requirements and for the accuracy of all declared product properties.  

Uzbekistan: Compulsory retraining of drivers has been introduced

As of 1 January 2018, all drivers of vehicles that belong to organisations will be required to undergo retraining at least once every 2 years.

As of 1 July 2018, if a driver of any company vehicle does not have a required certificate confirming his or her retraining, they are to be subject to an administrative charge.

Uzbekistan: Simplified procedure for conformity assessment

Asof19 July 2017, importers and manufacturers of products subject to compulsory certification, are able to use a foreign declaration of conformity in order to fulfill the compulsory certification requirement. The amendment to the procedure of compulsory product certification provides the possibility of a foreign conformity declaration being acknowledged by the Uzbekistan authorities.

Uzbekistan: Adopted food safety, packaging and labelling technical regulations

Uzbekistan has adopted and published a number of food related technical regulations (TRs).

Technical Regulation on the Safety of Milk and Dairy Products. The TR applies to all milk and dairy products released on the market of Uzbekistan. The TR was adopted by Decree No. 474 of 7 July 2017 and enters into force in 18 months from the date of its official publication.

Uzbekistan: Adopted Technical Regulation on Oil and Fat Food Products

As of 25 January 2019, importers and manufacturers of oil and fat products, including animal and plant fats, are required to comply with the requirements imposed by Technical Regulation (TR) on the Safety of Oil and Fat Products.

The requirements imposed by the adopted TR apply to all food and non-food fat and oil products, such as plant and animal oils and fats, mayonnaise, distilled glycerin, plant oil spreads, household soap, etc.
