EAEU: Proposal to toughen food safety requirements
Earlier on, it was established that the deadline for the introduction of mandatory labelling of certain types of dairy products, identified by Direction of the Government of the Russian Federation of April 28, 2018 N 792-r, will be set depending on the results of the experiment on labelling of dairy products with identification marks. Now the exact date has been set as 1 June 2020.
Starting from 12 April 2021, manufacturers and importers of packaged (bottled) drinking water in Uzbekistan are required to comply with the provisions of the adopted Technical Regulation on the Safety of Drinking Water in Uzbekistan.
The adopted TR applies to natural mineral water (table, treatment, medical-table, naturally gaseous), processed and natural drinking water as well as water intended for children.
Manufacturers and importers of milk and dairy products are to be required to label such products with identification marks.
Milk and dairy products have been included into the list of products that are subject to compulsory marking with identification marks. Other products that are also in this list include tobacco, perfumery, footwear, etc.
Manufacturers and importers of mineral and drinking water may have to label their products with identification marking. Draft law that would introduce an experiment for ID marking of drinking and mineral water was published by the Government of the Russian Federation.
The experiment would take place from 1 October 2019 to 30 September 2020.
Order No. 118 dated 03/12/2019 approved the Requirements for the safety and quality of milk and dairy products, which introduce the principles of good manufacturing practice for the production, processing and placing on the market of milk and dairy products. The rules also set criteria for raw milk that determine its suitability for being placed on the market.
