EAEU: Regulation on Fish Products enters into force

As of 1 September 2017, manufacturers and importers of fish and fish products (e.g. raw fish, caviar, etc.) will be required to comply with the provisions imposed by the Technical Regulation on the Safety of Fish and Fish Products (TR EAEU 040/2016).

Ukraine: Increasing penalties for breaches of food and feedstuffs safety legislation

As of 4 April 2018 food and feedstuffs manufacturers and suppliers (including importers) are required to comply with the adopted law on enforcement of safety legislation applicable to these products.

The adopted law regulates state supervision measures that are to be taken in a form of audits, inspections, sample taking, laboratory tests and analysis, visual inspection and documentary inspection.

EAEU: Approved draft Technical Regulation on the Safety of Packaged Drinking Water

On 16 May 2017 the EurAsian Economic Commission Collegiate approved draft Technical Regulation on the Safety of Packaged Drinking Water.

The TR would apply to natural mineral water, including therapeutic mineral water, treated mineral water, drinking water for children and artificially mineralized drinking water.

Russia: Renewal of the temporary retail prohibition for certain alcohol-containing products

Starting from 30 March 2017 all organisations and sole traders are required to suspend all retail sale of alcohol-containing non-foods, alcohol-containing food additives and flavourings with the content of ethanol exceeding 28% of the finished product volume, sold at a price that is lower than the retail price of 0,5 litre of vodka or other spirits or liquors with the ethanol content exceeding 28%.

 

EAEU: Draft Technical Regulation on the safety of poultry meat and products made of poultry meat

If adopted, the Technical Regulation (TR) would apply to manufacturers and importers of poultry meat and poultry meat products, such as finished and semi-finished products made of poultry meat, poultry meat protein, stock and sausages etc.

The Technical Regulation would also impose requirements for the manufacturing process, storage, transportation, sale and disposal/utilization of poultry meat and poultry meat products.

EAEU: Technical Regulation on the Safety of Fish and Fish Products enters into force

As of 1 September 2017 manufacturers and importers of fish and fish products have to comply with the safety requirements imposed by the adopted Technical Regulation on the Safety of Fish and Fish Products. There is no transitional period at the moment but the provisions of the TR regulating the content of veterinary preparations in animal aquaculture products are to enter into force at a later stage, when the relevant intra-state standards will be adopted.

Draft law aims to amend food safety requirements in Belarus

Draft law would strengthen the measures aimed at ensuring quality and safety of foodstuffs. It would clarify food labelling requirements as well as consumer information requirements.  It would also set out separate requirements for the labelling of biologically active additives and specialized sport food. 

EEU: amended Technical Regulation on the Safety of Packaging

As of 21 May 2017 manufacturers and importers of packaging and packaged products packaging, are required to comply with the amended provisions of the EurAsian Economic Union Technical Regulation on the Safety of Packaging (TR TS 005/2011).
