Ukraine: Revised emission norms for thermal power plants

Facilities operating thermal power plants with nominal heat output capacity exceeding 50 MW installed at heating power stations, boiler installations and at industrial facilities, will be required to comply with the adopted permissible emission limits of polluting substances as soon as the adopted norms enter into force. The Norms will enter into force from the date of their official publication. As at 6 April 2018, the Norms have not been officially published.

Ukraine: Technical Regulation on the safety of toys is to enter into force

As of 21 September 2018, importers and manufacturers of toys are required to ensure their products comply with the adopted Technical Regulation on the Safety of Toys (TR). There is no transitional period but all toys that are compliant with the “old” TR on toy safety (i.e. adopted in 2013) and that have been issued conformity assessment documents before the 2018 TR enters into force (i.e. before 21 September 2018) can remain on the market provided that they have been placed on the market before 21 September 2018.

Ukraine: Adopted maximum allowable concentrations for chemical substances in the air of working zone

As of 1 December 2017, employers must ensure that the concentration of 17 substances in the air of working zone does not exceed the set concentration limits. The concentration limits have been set for the following substances:

Abamectin

Benzalkonium chloride, Alkyl(C12-16)dimethylbenzylammonium chloride;

Thiourea dioxide

Angiolin ((S)-2,6-diaminohexanoic acid 3-methyl-1,2,4-triazolyl-5-thioacetate)

Ukraine: Amended drug registration procedure

As of 24 November 2017, manufacturers and importers of pharmaceuticals (drugs) are required to comply with the revised drug registration requirements.

The amendments to the drug (pharmaceutical/medicine) registration procedure have been introduced by Order No. 1202 of 2 October 2017.

Ukraine: Adopted occupational safety rules for temporary and mobile construction sites

Project owners, construction site managers, general contractors, contractors, subcontractors and self-employed persons will be required to comply with the occupational safety rules applicable to temporary and mobile construction sites. The requirements are to enter into force from the date of its official publication. As at 14 October 2017, the requirements have not been published yet.

Ukraine: Amended fire safety rules

As of 3 October 2017, fire safety rules of Ukraine (the Rules) have been amended. The amendments clarify existing requirements and also impose a number of new fire safety requirements. The Rules apply to all organisations regardless of the type of their activity.

Ukraine: Published draft eco-design regulations

In August 2017, State Agency of Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving published a number of draft Technical Regulations that would impose eco-design requirements on certain types of products placed on the Ukrainian market.
