EAEU: Approved draft Technical Regulation on the Safety of Packaged Drinking Water

On 16 May 2017 the EurAsian Economic Commission Collegiate approved draft Technical Regulation on the Safety of Packaged Drinking Water.

The TR would apply to natural mineral water, including therapeutic mineral water, treated mineral water, drinking water for children and artificially mineralized drinking water.

EAEU: Proposed amendment to Technical Regulation on Requirements for Lubricants, Oils and Special Liquids

Manufactures and importers of coolants may be subject to a requirement that restricts the content of methanol (methyl alcohol) in coolants. If the draft amendment is adopted, the content of methanol in coolants would not be permitted to exceed 0.05 % by mass. 

All conformity assessment documents adopted or issued before the amendment enters into force would remain valid until their normal expiry date. 

EAEU: Three more internal non-tariff barriers are to be removed

The EurAsian Economic Commission continues working towards the removal of barriers for the free movement of goods, services, capital and workforce within the internal EAEU market.

As a result of a recent discussion, the Commission is to continue working at removal of three more internal barriers. 

EAEU: Amended Technical Regulation on the safety of products intended for children

The EurAsian Economic Commission Collegiate has approved, at its meeting on 21 March 2017 in Moscow, the amendments to the Technical Regulation on the Safety of Products Intended for Children and Adolescents (CU TR / TR TS 007/2011, in force since 1 July 2012). 

As a result of the amendments, the manufacturers will have an opportunity to use modern artificial materials for the manufacture of different types of children footwear.

EAEU: New Customs Code enters into force on 1 January 2018

On 28 April 2017 the Council of the EurAsian Economic Commission adopted the decision on synchronisation of ratification procedures for the EAEU Customs Code. This will allow the Customs Code to enter into force on 1 January 2018.

At the same time with the Code, a number of important decisions of the Commission are to also enter into force. These decisions regulate 25 different issues, including the activities of authorised economic operators, movement of goods by physical persons and so on.

EAEU: Transitional provisions to the Technical Regulation on the Safety of Mineral Fertilisers

Technical Regulation on the Safety of Mineral Fertilisers TR EAEU 039/2016 enters into force on the same date the Technical Regulation on the Safety of Chemical Products enters into force.  All conformity assessment documents issued for products subject to the TR on the Safety of Mineral Fertilisers before this TR enters into force, are to remain valid through their normal validity period but no later than 18 months from the date the TR on the Safety of Mineral Fertilisers entered into force.

Draft Decision aims to exclude 1-Phenylpropan-2-one from the list of approved substances

The Draft Decision would exclude the substance 1-Phenylpropan-2-one from the List of aroma and flavouring chemical substances approved for use in the production of food flavourings.
