EEU: amended Technical Regulation on the Safety of Packaging

As of 21 May 2017 manufacturers and importers of packaging and packaged products packaging, are required to comply with the amended provisions of the EurAsian Economic Union Technical Regulation on the Safety of Packaging (TR TS 005/2011).

Eurasian Economic Union creates legal framework for plant quarantine

The members of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) approved the Unified list of products subject to quarantine in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU); the common quarantine phytosanitary requirements to regulated products and quarantine objects of the customs border and customs territory of the EEU; and the common rules and norms regulating ensuring plant quarantine in the customs territory of the EAEU (EEU).

Amendments to the EEU Technical Regulation on the Safety of Low Voltage Equipment

The EEC introduced amendments N 120 of 25 October 2016 to the list of standards of the EEU Technical Regulation on the Safety of Low Voltage Equipment (EEU TR 004/2011) to be applied voluntarily.

Amended Technical Regulation on the Safety of Machinery and Equipment (TR TS 010/2011)

The list of products subject to conformity assessment in a form of certification has been amended to exclude “Technological equipment for trading facilities and public catering facilities”.

EEU: Approved regulatory documents for pharmaceutical market

The Working Group on creation of common approach to regulating market circulation of pharmaceuticals has approved a number of necessary documents. These documents are required for the launch of the common pharmaceuticals market in Eurasian Economic Union member states (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan).

EEU and Russia: call to ban MIT and MCI from child cosmetics

The recent prohibition of MIT (Methylisothiazolinone) in all leave-on cosmetics marketed in the European Union triggered the start of public campaign in Russia. The campaign is led by the media project “LookBio” and the website ekokosmetika.ru.  The aim of this campaign is to totally exclude MIT from child cosmetic products placed on the Russian market.

EEU: Hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products will be restricted

On 4 August 2016 the text of the draft Technical Regulation (TR) on the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment has been published. The text is in line with the European Directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS 2).  The provisions of the TR would apply to the whole EEU: Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.

Draft Customs Code of the EEU is to be submitted for intra-state approval in August 2016

On 26 July 2016 the High Level Working Group dealing with draft Customs Code of the EEU has managed to find an agreement between the parties on the text of the draft Code.
