From 8 May 2013 import of television equipment into the Customs Union is subject to a 16% customs duty. The duty is set as 16% of the customs value of the goods. These goods include:
EuroAsian Economic Commission intends to decrease import duties on cables, raw materials for fruit juices and on contact lens blanks. At the same time the Commission intends to increase import duties on gas operated water heaters.
Draft decision of the EuroAsian Economic Commission proposed to increase import customs duties for up to 16% for certain types of television equipment. The new customs duty will apply to all equipment which includes video-recording or video-display equipment with liquid crystal or plasma screen.

The Customs Union (CU) of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan was founded by the Treaty of 6 October 2007 but actually came into its official existence on 1 January 2010 when the new common customs tariff and non-tariff regulations were adopted by the three states. The Customs Code of the Customs Union entered into force on 1 July 2010 regulating the newly created unified customs zone.
