EuroAsian Economic Commission intends to decrease import duties on cables, raw materials for fruit juices and on contact lens blanks. At the same time the Commission intends to increase import duties on gas operated water heaters.
Export of Raw Materials for Juices
The Consulting Committee has approved the proposal to temporarily decrease import customs duties on raw materials used for the manufacture of fruit juices, and namely, peach, apricot and nectarine juices – from 15% to 0% of the customs value of the goods.
Export of Contact Lens Blanks
It is also proposed to decrease import customs duties on plastic contact lens blanks used for the manufacture of soft contact lenses, from 20% to 0% of their customs value. This measure aims to facilitate export of contact lens blanks to the Customs Union and to Russia. It also aims to increase price competitiveness of contact lenses made in the Customs Union in general and in Russia in particular, by way of decreasing contact lenses production costs.
Export of BIKOX Cables
It was also proposed to decrease import duty on BIKOX cables from 15% to 0% of their customs value. This cable is used for the manufacture of modern welding torches. No like products are currently being manufactured in the Customs Union since their manufacture will not be profitable due to a restricted use.
Export of Instantaneous Gas Water Heaters
Customs duties for instantaneous gas water heaters are proposed to be increased from 0% to 10% of their customs value. The aim of this measure is to support the Customs Union manufacturers of these goods.
