Facilities operating in metallurgical, oil and gas industries and some other types of hazardous facilities may have to undergo state environmental expert assessment already as of 1 June 2017. The draft law imposing this requirement has been submitted to the State Duma.
In any case, state environmental expert assessment is to become compulsory for all environmentally hazardous facilities (“category I facilities”) as of 1 January 2018. The submitted draft law aims to move this requirement to an earlier date.
