Zero customs duties for viscose fabrics, railway couches and terephthalic acid

Draft decision on the imposition, in the Customs Union, of 0% import duties for certain types of railway couches, for the period from 15 March 2013 to 31 December 2014 was approved by the Consultation Committee on Trade of the EuroAsian Economic Commission.

Also, a proposal was approved to set, in the Customs Union, zero import duties for artificial viscose fabrics. This type of fabrics is used as raw materials for the manufacture of tissues, packaging, filtering and other materials in medical, furniture, shoe-making, textile and automotive industries. The period during which this duty is to be set for, will be confirmed at a later stage.

A zero import duty will be set, until the end of 2013 for terephthalic acid and its salts. Terephthalic acid is mainly used  as a precursor to the polyesther PET, which is used to make clothing and plastic bottles.

EuroAsian Economic Commission was created pursuant to the decision of the Presidents of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, in the late 2011 as the single constantly functioning regulatory body of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Area.
